Description

This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

The P-51 prototype NA-73 was designed with a USAAF load factor of 7.33G and had sufficient strength, but it was considerably heavier than the British standard load factor of 5.33G. Therefore, the USAAF and the Royal Air Force thought that performance would be improved by reducing the weight of the P-51 to the same level as the Spitfire, and they developed the P-51H, a “lightweight Mustang.” The H type, the final production version of the P-51, is equipped with an improved Allison V-1650-9 Merlin engine and uses an improved propeller made by Aero Products, which solved the vibration problem and had advanced supercharger control. The maximum output reached 2,000hp by the mechanism and the water-methanol injection device. Ultimately, the H type, with several hundred pounds of lighter weight, increased output, and improved radiator shape, was able to reach 759km/h at an altitude of 6,919m. In the invasion of Japan, it was planned to replace all models with the H type and use them as USAAF standard fighters, but the war ended after 555 of this aircraft were produced, so the remaining 1,845 aircraft were canceled. The aircraft returned from the Pacific Front were deployed to the National Army, but were retired without being used.
