Although it entered service relatively late in the First World War, the famous Sopwith Camel was still perceived as the best British fighter aircraft of the War. The Camel was a further development of the Sopwith Pup. It had a more powerful engine and was a little heavier. Compact positioning of the engine, fuel tank, machine guns and cockpit produced excellent manueverability.
