1/72 T-1A Jayhawk jet trainer

Description

This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

The kit comes with etchings, painted mask stickers and three types of USAF decals.

When completed, the T-1 will measure approximately 205mm in length and 184mm in width.

The T-1 is a military version of the Beechjet 400A, a business jet, and is a twin-engine jet trainer aircraft used primarily by the U.S. Air Force to train pilots for transport aircraft.

Nicknamed the Jayhawk, it is used not only to train pilots, but also Air Force navigators and Navy flight officers.

The pilot and two cadets sit in the cockpit, and the aircraft can fly at Mach 0.78 thanks to its retractable wings and twin turbofan engines.

Some of the aircraft’s equipment has been modified in accordance with U.S. military requirements, including additional fuel tanks in the cabin, strengthened main landing gear for frequent takeoffs and landings, and reinforced windshields and main/tail leading edges for bird strike protection.

The first T-1A was delivered to Leeds Air Force Base in Texas in January 1992, and training with the aircraft began in 1993.

A total of 180 T-1As were delivered between 1992 and 1997.
