The MV-22B Osprey has defied convention from day one. Although it flies like a heli, the Osprey cruises with the speed and range of a turboprop plane. While the JGSDF doesn’t currently have Ospreys in its fleet, they are expected to be added within the next year for maritime roles. It is estimated that Japan will have a total of seventeen Ospreys by 2019.
