From the manufacturer:

The Sopwith Camel Trainer was a British two seat training aircraft developed for preparatory training for pilots due to fly the standard single seat Camel fighter. Structurally the two seat machine differed little from the normal fighter, but in place of a fuel tank a new position for an instructor was located. The plane was unarmed. In general, by the beginning of 1918 a useful number of Camel trainers had been built and delivered to flying schools and elsewhere for instructional use.
