The KJ-200 is a small early-warning aircraft modified from the Y-8 transport aircraft. It features an elongated box-shaped radar, similar to that of the Swedish Ericsson PS-890 Erieye early warning radar, installed on the back of the aircraft. A larger early warning aircraft, the KJ-2000, covers the entire Chinese airspace, and the KJ-200 supports a small area.
