This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

Platz’s all-injection 1/144 P-51D kit is a simply outstanding work of art. The parts breakdown is close to that found in 1/72 scale kits, and the level of detail overall is comparable. Panel lines are recessed, a seat and radios are included to fill the open space under the crystal-clear canopy, the radiator air exit ramp is correctly shaped and built up out of separate pieces for a nice deep appearance, and the landing gear mounts will virtually guarantee the correct mounting angle. Two complete kits are included, and four closed canopies, so if you wished to you could cut them apart and pose them open without having to worry about screwing your only canopy up in the process! Markings are included for four 5th AF aircraft: “Jumpin’ Jacques” of the 3rd FS, 3rd FG; a striking aircraft of the 118th TRS with bold black lightning bolts on the fuselage, wings and tailplanes; “Stockton’s Gal” of the 39th FS, 314 FBG and “No Sweat” from the same unit.
