This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The P-47D Thunderbolt, which appeared in the latter half of World War II, became the main fighter aircraft of the U.S. Army, together with the P-51 Mustang. The P-47D is a powerful and sturdy fighter-bomber, equipped with a 2,000hp-class high-power engine and held in high regard by the Royal Air Force. The Royal Air Force adopted the initial production type, known as “Leatherback,” as Thunderbolt Mk.I, and the late-production type, known as “Bubble Top,” as the Thunderbolt Mk.II. Selected for its high-performance and tough airframe, it was active on the India-Burma Front at the end of World War II.
This kit includes parts to build two of the “Bubble Top” version equipped with the water-drop-shaped windshield. Four sets of decals by Cartograf are included — two that fought on the Burma front, and two from North Africa, trained in anticipation of tropic-region battles. It’s interesting to note that each of these four markings were used on a different paint color: the standard gray camouflage of the Royal Air Force, the brown camouflage of the Burma campaign, the unpainted silver of the U.S. military aircraft, and the awesome special paint of the training unit commander aircraft.
