This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

The P-47D Thunderbolt is a large fighter developed, deployed and operated by the U.S. Army during World War II. It was equipped with the R-2800 air-cooled radial 180-cylinder engine that produces 2,000 horsepower — the strongest available at that time. It also had an exhaust turbine for excellent high-altitude performance and a maximum speed of 690km/h. It first flew in May 1941 and appeared on the European Front from 1943. Initially it was assigned to escort a strategic bomber unit heading from Britain to Germany, but when the new P-51 Mustang was deployed, it shifted its role to ground attack, where it served until the end of the war. It was also adopted by the Royal Air Force due to its high performance. Among the most representative of the D type of this aircraft was the early production version known as “Razorback,” which was operated as Thunderbolt Mk.I. The late production type “Bubbletop” was also known as Thunderbolt Mk.II. The Royal Air Force Thunderbolt advanced mainly to the India-Burma battlefield in the latter half of the war; ground attacks against the Japanese Army deployed in the same area were also undertaken at that time.

This model kit from Platz reproduces the Thunderbolt Mk.I operated by the Royal Air Force in World War II. This is the Razorback version, in which the canopy is integrated with the rear fuselage, which had a sharp shape. Decals are included for four different Royal Air Force aircraft. The dark green/ocean gray camouflage is included, as is the dark green/dark earth camouflage (the standard paint for the Asian battlefield). Parts for two aircraft are included. Order yours today!
