Description
This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.
The LaGG-3 appeared at the end of 1940 as an upgraded version of the LaGG-1, and began to see service in early 1941. Due to metal shortages in the Soviet Union at the time, the earliest LaGG-3 airframes were of all-wood construction.
However, as this resulted in an airframe gain of some 100kg over the prototype and a subsequent drop in top speed and maneuvrability, the type was unpopular with pilots. But the Soviet Air Force, suffering from a severe shortage of fighter aircraft, compensated for the heavier weight of the all-wood construction production airframe by changing armament layouts and lightening fuel loads to recoup some of the type’s performance.
This kit contains parts molded in grey and clear plastic and includes decals. Completed model measures 184mm long with a 204mm wingspan.
