The prototype fighter aircraft P.1 was designed in 1929 as the first design of PZL. It was designed by 27 year old chief engineer, Zygmunt Pu?awski. The original design concept was “gull wing” called Pu?awski wing. It provided excellent visibility from the cockpit while maintaining structural strength necessary for air combat. In contrast to the common era aircraft PZL P.1 was all-metal aircraft. In those days it was a novel design that has many followers and became the prototype of a series of excellent fighters.
