The H-19 is the designation for the S-55 utility cargo helicopter developed and manufactured in the United States, specifically for the U.S. Air Force.

This model is characterized by its unique design, featuring an air-cooled radial reciprocating engine stored at an angle in the bulging nose, which allows for a spacious rear cabin area for crew and cargo.

Adopted by military and civilian operators worldwide as a transport helicopter, this model has made pioneering contributions that demonstrate the utility of helicopters, with a total of 1,828 units produced globally, making it a bestseller.

In Japan, the initial knock-down production was started by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, followed by licensed production.

This helicopter was used by various Self-Defense Forces, the Japan Coast Guard, and civilian airlines.
