Completely new mold! The X-3 Stiletto is an experiment supersonic aircraft developed in the U.S. in 1951; it made its first flight in 1952. It had two Westinghouse XJ34-WE-17 turbojet engines mounted in its fuselage; it recorded a maximum horizontal flight speed of Mach 0.987, and in 1953 it recorded a Mach 1.25 flight speed during a dive. In 1953, it was transferred from the U.S. Air Force to NACA (later called NASA); in 1956, it was transferred to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
