This is an injection-plastic jet aircraft model kit.

The F-1 is the first domestically produced Japanese fighter aircraft after the war, developed for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It was based on the T-2, the first supersonic advanced training aircraft developed in Japan. The first mass-produced version made its first flight in 1977, and was deployed that same year. It protected the skies over Japan until 2006. It’s equipped with two TF40-IHI-801A turbofan engines from Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries, and its maximum speed was Mach 1.6. It was equipped with a 20mm Vulcan cannon as well as various bombs and rockets. It was also able to equip a domestic ASM-1 air-to-ship missile, demonstrating its high ability as a multirole fighter.

This kit from Platz includes decals to mark it as the F-1 of the 6th Squadron, which was retired in 2006, in special “final flight” paint.
