1/72 Lancaster B Mk.III Dambusters

Description

This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

One of the most daring raids of WWII: the Dambusters. Flying low, at night, these specially modified aircraft swooped into the Ruhr River valley to drop their special drum-shaped bombs in a mission to take out the dams. The bombs would, if everything worked perfectly, skip across the water, hit the top of the dam and then sink deep into the reservoir before exploding at the dam’s base. While the raids were successful and quickly became the stuff of legend (inspiring the attack on the Death Star in Star Wars Episode IV), the burst dams were actually repaired pretty quickly by the Germans.

Hasegawa’s second Lancaster release depicts one of the Dambusters’ aircraft, and includes newly tooled parts for the special bomb and related gear to accurately model one of these historic aircraft. Decals are included for three aircraft of 617 Sq.: AJ G, AJ S, and AJ C. AJ C sports a large stick-figure angel on the nose.
