Since the Air Force of each country started to pay attention to night bombing, the bombing became more effective than ever. To fight against the night bombing, a series of night fighters were developed. The Americans started their night fighter program in 1940. The Army used the P-70 Havoc and Beaufighter to fight with the Japanese until the first 45 P-61 Black Widows were introduced into active service in October, 1943.

With the advent of the more powerful Airborne Intercept radar, the SCR-720C, the army began upgrading the P-61 with the new radar system. The new Black Widow with the SCR-720C were designated as the P-61B.

This kit measures 210mm long and 279mm wide when completed. Includes over 90 parts molded in grey plastic.
